From humble working-class roots in Middletown, Ohio, to star status in Chicago at 22, Lorraine "Angel Casey" Meinecke had it made. Voted "Queen of Chicago Radio" from 1944 through 1946, she was one of the first TV stars in history, and a household name in Chicago from the mid-1940s through the mid-1960s. She married groundbreaking artist Tristan Meinecke, and created her own children's television show with puppeteer Bruce Newton, later known for his work on "Garfield Goose and Friends." Then she walked away from her career at its peak over moral principles, and never looked back.

For these and many other reasons, Angel Casey always was and always will be the Lady by the Lake.
